Dietz "Legion of the Damned" series - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-02-2006
Been ripping through these military/space-opera books and quite enjoying them. The French Foreign Legion has endured into the age of space colonization (along with the Marines, etc.) and they are still the refuge of criminals and tough-guys (though as the novels progress, there are fewer and fewer morally challenged Legionaires and more "honorable" soldier types; I like the conscript hard-cases better).
Very satisfying space opera. Big worlds, lotsa action, bad guys who are bad, good guys who are good. No depth, lotsa fun. Read 'em in order, though, cuz they are sequential.
The last one I read was the "Boxer Rebellion" in space-opera form, and quite enjoyable.

Too many good guys in the final book, though. Time for more bad asses.
I could be wrong about the above statement. I read the books a long time ago. Could have been in a galaxy far away, too.
