the official one is attached to Quantum of Solace. It was quite fun and gritty. The Star Trek trailer, the Quantum preview can be found in it's own spot.

I was excited earlier in the week, maybe last week, when I heard Mrs. Roddenberry was going to voice the computer. Now I am sad.
She was also Dana Troy's mother?? I'm glad I got out while I could.
Still going to see the new one. Maybe I'm not as out as I think.

Thanks for that correction, Geek #1. I only caught the Borg episodes and not much else of TNG.
(How geeky is that. When I wrote Borg, it didn't underline it as if it were some misspelled word. It just accepted it. Who is writing the code for these things?)

Don't you remember the Dilbert strips where Microsoft was depicted as the Borg cube? More true than we knew.
I was a big fan of TNG, and the first TNG film, which IMO is the best of the ST films.

Nothing's better than Wrath of Khan, but Undiscovered Country came close, for one key line in the film. "Ship's court reporter please report to deck 27 for the taking of a deposition..." I stood up and cheered to know that my job is safe into the 23rd century.

You'd think if they could have a computer with total voice recognition they could do away with court reporters.
I enjoyed TNG, but not until it got rolling for some time. I liked Voyager and Enterprise too. Never got into DS9 though.

Nope. You'd need a lot more than "total" voice recognition. Not only would an untrained computer need to be able to instantly hear, understand and interpret a voice and it's pronunciation habits (can you imagine a computer that could correctly figure out that "ah-aye" means "all right"? Or knowing although someone very clearly said "axe" they meant "ask"?), it would also need to be able to simultaneously listen to all parties when they speak on top of each other (or interrupt the proceedings as needed). And format and punctuate the spoken word as the written word, which involves a certain amount of interpretation! Human participation and the ability to intervene in the process is the best way to ensure an accurate record. And G-d bless ST VI for acknowledging that computers are great tools and aids, but not always an appropriate substitute for the human brain in all situations.
