Nice Work If You Can Get It @ Cabrillo College 11/11/17 - Drunk Monk - 11-12-2017
I thought the school plays were done but we flew Tara back this weekend because Monday is her 18th birthday (I know, right?) and one of her classmates who climbed Half Dome with us was in the chorus.
I'd never seen this before and it was amusing to learn the context of Let's call the on thing off and Fascinating Rhythm. The sets were impressive for a community college as was the leading lady who played Billy and a few other of the actresses, but the leading man who played Jimmy was painfully off key throughout. A'kio - the half domer - still managed to upstage the others. He's got that hamminess that will serve him well for communty theater. It was fun to see his mom (she's active in the reggae scene so we cross paths now and again) and some other 'rents, plus some of T's classmates.
It's good to have T back in the bungalow again, if only for the weeekend, but she'll be back for T-day and the winter break.
