Hunt for the Wilderpeople - Drunk Monk - 04-13-2017

Charming and funny. Sam Neill aging gracefully into an old coot. It really hinges on newcomer Julian Dennison, who nails his role with fat kid freshness. NZ is stunningly panoramic, lush, and gorgeous. Warning: lots of dead animals and bloody boar fights. Refreshingly delightful.

Watched this through hoopla, but couldn't get closed captioning to work.  I see on my laptop that it's available, but couldn't figure out how to activate it on the TV.  Unfortunate.  Listening comprehension 30-50%.  Missed some good lines, I'm sure.

And the director, Taika Waititi (who directed and played multiple roles in Thor Ragnorok to great comic effect), had a small role as a whacky minister, and I regret missing most of his lines.

Pretty much in agreement with DM.  The kid was very good.  New Zealand is gorgeous.

I did find it funny how dogs on both sides would conveniently disappear for spells when their presence would have prevented the scene from working.
