2016-2017 Television season - Greg - 09-30-2016

Despite the fact I still have dozens of episodes from last season yet to watch, I am starting to watch the crop of new shows.

The Good Place: It's a comedy about a heaven with Kristen Bell and Sam Malone from cheers. The first two episodes were kind of funny.

Lethal Weapon: Not bad. But boy do you know the story. Damon Wayons is the weakest part. And there was an ongoing blow job joke running through the first episode which I felt was pretty racy.

Exorcist: Kind of spooky and scary. There was a really good twist. I don't know how they are going to carry it out for a full season. I said the same thing about the Colbert Show.

I have yet to watch Son of Xorn, Designated Survivor and a few others.

An old friend - Drunk Monk - 10-04-2016

Maul is back on Star Wars Rebels. Season 3 is on.

The New Shows - Greg - 10-18-2016

So, I'm plowing though the new shows for the season and plowing is the right word.

Lethal Weapon. I received tremendous scorn from the Queen when she walked through the room and realized this was what I was watching. I like the guy playing the suicidal detective, but Wayans is playing Wayans. I might watch a few more eps while the queen is away.

The Good Place. Kristen Bell is sent to heaven but she doesn't belong there. Yeah, still waiting for the next note. Not going to wait long.

The Designated Survivor. Hey, Kiefer Sutherland goes from low level cabinet post to the president after the Capitol building blows up during a State of the Union address. It seems like I've seen this show a million times before. Might watch another. Again, tQ is out of town.

Exorcist. Good and moody. Lots of atmosphere. Didn't record episode 2 but I have 3 and 4. I'm going to give it more watching but I don't know if I have enough time.

Supergirl. Not a new a show, but it is on a new network and everybody keeps giving it great reviews. I watched the season premiere, well the first twenty minutes. Didn't see a lot of change. She seems too whiny and i don't care about her dating habits.

Super bummer - Drunk Monk - 10-18-2016

Been looking forward to Supergirl but it's CW now so I don't have a platform to watch it conveniently. So bummed.

Not really watching any series right now. Nibbling at Luke Cage but mostly because I haven't found a new addiction. Watching the monologues of Trevor, Stephen, Seth, & the Jimmys. The election news is strangely engrossing, and I've always disdained reality TV.

Super bummer x2 - Drunk Monk - 10-20-2016

Lynda Carter as the pres? Stroke of brilliance for Supergirl. I'd have to tune into CW on Monday eve (or buy it) to watch, neither of which I plan to do. Just have to wait until later when it shows up on Netflix.

Cw - Drunk Monk - 10-24-2016

So I tuned in for Supergirl. Lynda was cool. Her face has some plastic stiffness but she's still stunning and the ww nods, the Supergirl spin and the other plane reference were cute D.C. Easter eggs. But the loss of Cat severely crippled this season. I can give it a miss now, until some sorry binge when it shows up on Netflix when Season 2 is done.

I was saddened to learn that the creator of Preacher passed away. Not that I followed his work at all, but still, the pix in the nyt showed how self portrait it was.

Riverdale - Greg - 01-28-2017

Come on! It's the Archie comic like you've never seen it before. You probably didn't even know you wanted it all hyper sexualized. Well, you probably don't.

It's seeing Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead through the prism of Twin Peak's. Archie is all ripped. Veronica is hiding out from her home in New York because her dad is on trial for embezzlement. There is a murder. You heard me. Betty talks about sleeping with Archie. It's all very strange. And to give it even more of a 90210 vibe, Archie's dad is Luke Perry.

Even Josie and the Pussycats make an appearance. Although, they never did play Sugar Sugar.

It might be too soapy and High School for me. Although it does have the CW requirement of everyone being really attractive.

The show did have it's moments. There was some humor. But it is another show that needs a go fund me campaign to buy the cinematographer some lights. It could be the same cinematographer that lights the Marvel shows on Netflix.

Brockmire! - Greg - 04-14-2017

Ah, baseball and the ghost of Vin Scully combined with a lot of drugs and sex. And Funny. Hank Azaria is killing it as this disgraced Broadcast announcer who gets a chance as the new announcer for the Morristown Frackers. There is lots of story and humor and I'm really liking this new show. It's on IFC.

I just binged season 1 of The Good Place and started Season 2.  Tara got me into it.  Neither of us think it's that great but it is diverting.  Don't judge us.

Finished The Good Place.  Just in time for the Emmy noms.  It was amusing, although the Season 2 finale cliffhanger was wanting more.  The characters are very amusing.  Not a big fan of Kristen or Ted but they are good in this.  And Janet and Tehani are funny.  I'll check out Season 3 when it comes around.  I have a soft spot for visions of hell, and this hit some amusing notes.

RE: 2016-2017 Television season - King Bob - 12-10-2018

I enjoyed this too. Danson in particular. (Also liked him a lot in "Bored to Death".) I read recently that the network is on the fence about whether they will renew it.

It pulled some emmy noms:

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES - 2018 - Ted Danson
Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress - Comedy Series - Maya Rudolph
