Star Wars Rebels - Drunk Monk - 10-07-2014 Stumbled on to the premiere last night. Not bad. I liked the tone of it better than Clone Wars, and CW features a lot of my fav character Yoda. I imagine he could cross over into Rebels in some future episode. Honestly, I tried to get into Clone Wars a couple times but it just wasn't doing it for me. Too many jedi. Since the mouse acquired SW, you can get some really cool Star Wars stuff at the Disney stores. The force is with me - Drunk Monk - 01-04-2017 Never mind the end - Drunk Monk - 04-15-2017 This is the final season. ![]() Slightly ot - Drunk Monk - 09-06-2017 Watched all 8 Forces of Destiny short on Disneys YouTube. They are short - 2.5 min each and focus on the female characters - Rey, Leia, Jin, Ashoka, Sabine & Padme. Kinda pointless, but I found the Jin one a bit poignant, knowing her fate. The Sabine/Leia one confused me and made me want to review the Rebels ep with the Leia cameo, even though I didn't like it. It's kinda cool that Forces got the original actors for voice work, except Carrie and Natalie. But for 2.5 mins, it's not like there was that much dialog. Eager for the final season of Rebels. That's been a decent ride, once I got past Ezra being Aladdin. RE: Star Wars Rebels - Drunk Monk - 02-21-2018 The final episodes opened hard with a major death. This series deserves epic closure and the first two eps are solid. I’m the only person I know into this. One of T’s high school friends watched some, but that’s it. Lonely it is. So ready am I for this story arc to end. RE: Star Wars Rebels - Drunk Monk - 03-16-2018 The finale was sad, surprisingly so for something on Disney XD - I guess it's the wake of Rogue One. I liked it overall. I think I watched every episode over the entire run. For a moment, it looked like they were going to recant on that major death, but they didn't, which was cool. The ultimate fate of all the characters was fitting, except for the twilek Hera's fate - not sure how that came about for many reasons. It was a good run, Rebels, a fine side note to the SW canon and a revealing look at the franchise as it transitioned from the Emperor to the mouse. I really liked the dark saber story arc, the reveal on the basic lightsaber practice form, and some of the cameos - particular Saw Gerrerra, who makes little sense in RO, but is much more filled out in Rebels. Note that there are lots of Easter eggs for Rebels in RO. I'm somewhat glad it ended instead of milking it past its prime, but will miss those characters. Perhaps like with Ahsoka, Sabine will live on in future series. Ahsoka was really the only character of interest in Clone Wars. Rebels offered more, but Sabine's story left room for a new series at some point. Now it all feels like something that happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. Work. Work. RE: Star Wars Rebels - Drunk Monk - 08-12-2021 ![]() RE: Star Wars Rebels - Drunk Monk - 08-23-2023 I rewatched the final ep of Rebels again and it set me straight. I recommend d it for context because we see many of the things that crossover to Ashoka, like Sabine’s tower in the field of loth cats, and are reminded of how she gets Ezra’s lightsaber. It ends with Ashoka’s arrival, and there’s an implication that she’s there to take Sabine as her padawan, but that’s where it ends and the conflict that split them has yet to be explored. Funny thing - I never thought of Sabine as being Asian but now watching this again - she’s totally Asian. I’d recommend this ep as prep for Ashoka. You don’t need to see the rest of the show because it’s four seasons, and the gaps from starting at the end can be either filled in or ignored. |
