That's right. We saw this in 3-D. In Imax. And guess what? It was fine. It hits all the same notes as the first Spiderman movie with Tobey McGuire. There weren't any great revelations. I might like Andrew better than Tobey because Tobey always acted like he was getting ready to cry. But neither still match up to the Spiderman template I have in my mind from early Spiderman indoctrination.
There were some really cool fight scenes. Some of the learning to be Spidey scenes were pretty good. Of the big set I helped build on back lot of Universal, I saw very little. Maybe one building from a whole street of buildings. Which makes sense since they only listed 4 people from the construction department in the credits.
What would have put this over the top would have been Nick Fury at the end of the credit roll, but that didn't happen.
As for the 3-D? It didn't really add anything to it. I kind of hate the way the glasses limit what you are seeing. If you look to the sides, everything goes blurry. I say we leave the 3-D for the animated films.
So, this film was fine.

Pretty much the same, although I think I like the first version better, myself. It's interesting that these are getting to be like Greek plays (or Shakespeare, I guess): you know the story, you just go to see how this particular production brings it to life (or not).
Watching for the requisite Stan Lee cameo is always fun. This one was pretty good.
