The Iron Lady - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-14-2012 Yes, Meryl Streep does a fine job. But the film seemed like a hatchet job. It starts off with Margaret Thatcher in her dotage. She has Alzheimer's and keeps having conversations with her dead husband. As a starting point for a movie, it would be fine. But they spend the majority of the movie showing Thatcher as the crazy women with hair all askew and thinking she is still the Prime Minister. They don't really focus too much on her time as Prime Minister, which was why I was watching the film. They do hit the high-lights but the don't delve into it. And in most of those scenes, she doesn't come across very well. It's funny, the issues that faced Thatcher and got her the election are pretty much the sames ones facing the US today.
