I had an old reel of 8mm film sitting around... - El Dingo - 04-22-2012 I had an old reel of 8mm film sitting around. I sent it to a place that copies old film to DVD. Turns out it was footage I shot at John Stanley's "Creature Features". I appeared a couple of times around Halloween. I worked at 'Larry's Costume Shop' in San Jose and we would display costumes on the show. The guy with the clown nose at the beginning is Larry, one of the nicest people in the world. I appeared once with Bob Wilkins and once with John Stanley. I cannot recall what I wore. Anyway - here is some rare, silent treasure! Ken and I would take the bus there all the time to buy tricks. Re: I had an old reel of 8mm film sitting around... - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 04-22-2012 Sadly I do not have the right plug in to view the footage and can't determine which plug-in to get. Re: I had an old reel of 8mm film sitting around... - El Dingo - 04-22-2012 VLC is hands-down the awesomest free Video player ever. It plays pretty much everything: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Re: I had an old reel of 8mm film sitting around... - cranefly - 04-22-2012 Way way cool. It wouldn't play when I clicked on it. The QuickTime logo came up, like it was loading, but I gave up after several minutes. Here's how I got it to work. 1) Right-click the link and choose Save Link As to save it to your hard disk. Takes a minute or two to download. 2) Double-click the saved file, which for me brought it up in Windows Media Player and played it just fine. I have VLC installed on my other computer, which might have handled it easier. too cool, ED, too cool. - Drunk Monk - 04-23-2012 best vintage doom vid so far this year. It kills me that so much Creature Features footage is lost. Bob Wilkins was instrumental in the love for 'B' movies. Any TV host that said "Change the channel, this show is horrible" without getting fired deserves any award out there. He actually read alternative shows from 'TV Guide' that you could be watching. |
