Maybe I saw too many ads? Maybe a movie that trying to be Shakespearean in it's drama and plotting and had a renowned Shakespearean director at it's helm, should have been written by Shakespeare.
It all seemed very stagey to me without a lot of acting. Instead of getting an Alan Cummings look alike to play Loki, they should have gotten Alan Cummings. I never got the feeling he was much of a trickster. Or maybe his surrounding cast was so dumb you didn't need to be that tricky.
Then there was the New Mexican town where Thor falls to Earth. It looked like a town ready to be destroyed. It was out in the middle of nowhere and it didn't seem to fit in with it's surroundings.
The plot was very simple where nothing much happens. There weren't any epic battles. There weren't any huge dramatic twists. Too show that the actors were really emoting, there was a lot of yelling.
I say Feh. I'd like to see the movie one reviewer called the best genre film since The Dark Knight. Maybe there are two movies out there called Thor and I saw the wrong one?

Brand new, they blow, but you need them. However, it seems they just recycle the glasses now without cleaning them or checking them for wear. My glasses had a problem in the left eye and I had a nice lens flare for the majority of the movie. It was less noticeable during the daylight scene. Good thing most of the movie was dark.

On crappy netflix download, it was like technicolor barf. It was very Brannagh, and not in that brilliant Hamlet way, but in the overblown self-absorbed Frankenstein sort of way. I had to watch it in three shots because I kept falling asleep. Why did I persist? Good question. I'm gonna give this one a 'no sword fights' even though there were sword fights (and hammer, spear, mace, etc fights) but they were all of the sort of switchblade chrome variety using a lot of CGI so it really doesn't count. I'm mean really, a switchblade-style mace where the points emerge from a big ball? That's way up there as one of the stupidest weapons ever.

And here we thought Thor and his villainous half-brother Loki didn’t get along!
A hilarious mix-up at a Shanghai, China cinema has resulted in a fan-made image being used as the official poster for “Thor: The Dark World.” The digitally altered image, which originally turned up on Reddit, features Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in an uncharacteristically tender embrace -- it's likely the work of erotic fan fiction enthusiasts. Why the theatre opted to use the fan-made poster and not the official Chinese “Thor: The Dark World” poster is unknown.
The original “Thor 2” poster depicts Thor (Chris Hemsworth), hammer in hand, protecting main squeeze Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). The Thor/Loki version, on the other hand, implies that the two demigod half-brothers are in some sort of romantic relationship (only in your dreams and Tumblr blogs, Internet weirdos!). Though the fake poster may be taking liberties with the true nature of the Asgardians’ relationship, it at least it gets the movie’s title right -- the Chinese characters on both posters literally translate to “God of Thunder.”
Erotic fan fiction is a little-discussed element of fandom, but one that has had a surprising impact on the literary world and in Hollywood. This poster mix-up is just a case of that fandom being exposed to the greater public. E.L. James’ infamous “Fifty Shades of Grey” began its life as “Twilight Saga” S&M fanfic, and Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” series started off as a hard-edged “Harry Potter” fan-fiction called “The Draco Trilogy.”
Thor and Loki are far from the only unlikely gay coupling to come out of the fan community. One of the most famous fan-fiction tropes is called Kirk/Spock, an entire fan-made subgenre which depicts Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of “Star Trek” fame as being in a serious romantic/sexual relationship. If you can think of two or more fictional characters, there’s a good chance that there’s a small but dedicated online community devoted entirely to writing about and/or illustrating a relationship between them.
“Thor: The Dark World” hits theatres on November 8.

Like it better than first. I think the director's objective was just to keep things moving. It was funny. I liked the 3-D. Good action. Good sword fights. Nice use of the black lava fields in Iceland. Could have used more Kat Dennings. I probably liked it because I had no expectations for it whatsoever. And I liked that poster.
Go see it. See it in IMAX 3-D like the cool kids. (We only saw it in IMAX 3-D because the 2D show we were going to see was cancelled and this was the next available)

I liked it better than the first also.
Thor is the anti-Iron Man. His character is brooding and serious while everyone around him has snarky dialogue.
I was impressed with the number of people who get thrown into walls. Loki is the best Marvel movie villain and pretty much steals every scene he's in.

I rented this just so I could see the Mandarin One shot and didn't bother to see the film again. We had just seen CA 2 and had enough Marvel for the weekend. It was pretty funny. Ben Kingsly needs to do a whole movie as Trevor.

I finally saw Dark World. Missed when it came out and never went back for it until tonight. Only took me 9 years to get back to this.
I was curious where Jane Foster left off in anticipation of Love & Thunder. This didn’t really help. I thought this was the last appearance of Jane and the end of credits scene was not telling.
And I don’t think I saw this and forgot it because I didn’t recognize a single scene and could not find a previous review here where I store my long term memories. It was all fresh and didn’t really fill any gaps in the Thor arc, except the death of Frida. It felt like early MCU, back when they didn’t quite have their formula nailed, but they were well on their way.
It was amusing. I would’ve enjoyed it in 3d imax because it was that kind of film. The overall plot was a tad insipid but there was enough spectacle, action and funny bits that it didn’t matter. The elf villain was flat.
It’s amusing to look back on early Loki now. Jane is great and I can’t wait for her to wield mjolnir. I hope there’s more Kate. I only like Thor when he’s funny but this did have an excellent superhero finale duel.
Not going to even bother with a D00M rec or not. Most of you‘ve seen it already. Maybe you even remember it.
