Year End Wrapup? - King Bob - 01-05-2006 Isn't it time to say what was best of 2005? I know Mark and Gene must have some opinion. I don't really buy that many new albums, so perhaps I'm unqualified to say much. About the best thing I got this year was the Hank Williams singles box set. I found a lot of great songs that I had never heard before. And the Eno reissues sound good and have nice packaging. I also liked Fischerspooner's Odyssey and Bloc Party's Silent Alarm And I don't want to hear how the Green Day album was great! I think that's a case of the emperor's new clothes. All style and no substance from the wannabe Clash. - El Dingo - 01-05-2006 Best Movie: Sin City Best Album: The Flaming Lips "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" DVD-Audio reissue remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound. Best Book: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Best Dog: Artemis (3rd straight year! WTG Artie!) Best Drink: Irish Whisky (300th straight year! WTG Irish Whisky!) Best TV Show: My Name is Earl Best Wife: Dee Dee (sorry guys - tell your SOs to try harder in 2006) Best Kids: NONE! Seriously, kids are OK when they turn 12 or so, but infants/toddlers belong in blenders or chicken coops or something). Best Location: The Coast of Wales (May visit Spain/Portugal this year so look out Wales!) Most fun 2005 event: Watching the Bush regime start to atrophy. Here's hoping for total implosion in 2006! Apologies to the King - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-05-2006 Since, El Dingo decided to go wild (Wild Dingos? That's a given), I decided to move this to the media category. Although issues would have worked as well. As for music, I liked the U2 "Vertigo" album. I love Kanye West's " Golddigger" and of course "Fountains of Wayne Hotline " by Robbie Fulks. More info to come. best and worst - Drunk Monk - 01-06-2006 Best cd: Sinead O'Connor ~ Throw Down Your Arms Worst cd: Willie Nelson ~ Countryman Best track: Damian Marley ~ Welcome to Jamrock Best live music moments: Phil & Friends ~ Cold Rain and Snow, just before NYE U2 ~ City of Blinding Lights String Cheese Incident ~ Thriller, Halloween, Vegoose Damien Marley ~ Welcome to Jamrock, RotR Alpha Blondy, RotR Jerry Day at the Greek Stone Love ~ SNWMF Worst live music moments: Flaming Lips, Vegoose KMEL Jam Best film: Mirrormask Worst film: Little Manhattan (saw it on the plane ride back from Hawaii, what a downer) Best DOOM movie gathering: Unleashed, just because it was actually in a theater Best drink: Guinness Best location: Na Pali, Kauai Best radio show: Anything with me and iron crotch Best porn mag: Anything with me and iron crotch Worst t-shirt: Anything with me and iron crotch Best T-shirt: Year of the cock best of times, worst of times continued - Drunk Monk - 01-07-2006 best cinematic fight scene: Jackie's flypaper fight in The Myth best new hottie: Mallika Sherawat, The Myth best new male hottie: how should i know? now don't get all brokeback on me, boys. best real life fight scene: TIE drunk monk & legbone vs. psychotic break in eel river drunk monk & legbone vs. tripper who jumped off the balcony at new years best shocker: ken's engagement worst DOOM event: the forum crash - don't let it happen again, greg What do you people know? - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-08-2006 Best Dog: We all know the best dogs live on Montecito Best Drink: Diet Coke. Yeah, he's fine. - King Bob - 01-10-2006 I thought the forum was broke again, so I reposted in Music. Well, I'll think about other media. Now I think the best dog is Hazel, the schnoodle, but I realize you will have other ideas. (And schnoodle is a fun word.) On TV, I must admit I like Gilmore Girls (the wife introduced me long ago and I got hooked) and Ghost Hunters on SciFi (the one about TAPS, not the one with the stupid psychic in the UK) and of course the show on HBO about the Moonlight Bunny Ranch. I had hopes for Supernatural, but it didn't hold up. I only saw a few movies in the theater, but I think the best was A Very Long Engagement, which I saw on New Years Day 2005. The worst was definitely the final Star Wars. I think my favorite DVDs were Dodgeball and Anchorman, both delightfully stupid. I can't fully compare since I haven't heard Sirius, but XM blows away regular radio. You can actually hear all kinds of music (well I've never heard Chinese Opera, but I don't want to either). The best video game is still Tetris! And this is the best website of course. Family Connection to the Bunny Ranch - The Queen - 01-10-2006 For what it's worth: my cousin Jill Soble is a producer for that HBO Bunny Ranch series. She also works for Playboy TV. Next time I run into her, should I ask for souvenirs for you? - King Bob - 01-10-2006 Of course! But I can only wish for a talking keychain. You never know... - The Queen - 01-10-2006 ...when Jill was producing LAPD: Life on the Beat, she gave me a pin/tie clasp with little dangling handcuffs. I'll see what I can do. worst best - Drunk Monk - 01-11-2006 best new swag kickdown person: cindi's cousin jill best surprise revelation on this thread: king bob likes gilmore girls worst disturbing trend: the new fye store has a reggaeton section but no reggae section Let's Rethink - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-11-2006 Cindi's cousin Jill is married and doesn't live in the same house as her husband.
