Summer of Death - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 08-06-2009 How many celebs are going to pass this summer? They are dropping like flies. I just read that John Hughes died. Re: Summer of Death - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 08-07-2009 I saw a graffito on a brick wall in a Brussels train yard recently that said "The Breakfast Club" and it wasn't left over from the '80's. My uncle just passed away. - Drunk Monk - 08-19-2009 He was found in a public restroom stall, unconscious, on Sunday. No one knew how long he had been there. He was taken to ICU and put on life support but never recovered from the coma and was in a vegetative state, with massive kidney failure. They pulled the plug last afternoon and he went soon after. He was my mom's only sibling and last remaining intimate in her family. He is survived by his wife and my two cousins. They are being very Japanese about it, very stoic. My cousins went back to work today. They will have a private funeral - just immediate family. My mom won't go. She has to tend to my dad. She's pretty broke up about it. She was scheduled to babysit Tara today, and is seeing that through - hopefully it will take her mind off things. She says my dad understands something is wrong, but probably can't penetrate the details. After my dad's stroke, that whole family surprised my folks by showing up on their doorstep unannounced. It was very joyous and the last time my mom saw her brother. She keeps in close contact with my cousin - they talk on the phone for hours every week. That's been great for my mom. The last time I saw my uncle was when we went to Hawaii a few years ago since I was away when they made their surprise visit. He treated us to a big dinner at Jackie Chan's restaurant. It was really nice. I still have the souvenir beer glass. He was a great guy - a Korea vet and lifelong postman. He had just retired. So I'm grieving for him. It's a big loss that side of my family, which is fairly small - a huge loss for my mom, who already has so much to deal with due to my dad. But what a sad way to die - in a public restroom. It was so sudden really - my whole family is shocked. Re: Summer of Death - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 10-23-2009 RIP, Soupy Sales.
