RE: Stro - Greg - 11-05-2020

DM and who? I don't follow.

The interview is complete. We did have a San Francisco focus. And a drug focus, go figure. I think it went well. I know some stories at this point. Article should be out Sunday or Monday.

I did see that he went back and watched the movie before we did the interview. He also claimed to have enjoyed the movie.

RE: Stro - Drunk Monk - 11-05-2020

All interviewers claim that but he probably did.

One good result about this election - we won the drug war. By voting!

RE: Stro - Greg - 11-09-2020

Wow. So, that was some article in the SF Gate. Especially, the title. Granted, I did say they thought of him as Jesus in Europe but that's not quite how I meant it.

I'm scared to read it again.

RE: Stro - Drunk Monk - 11-09-2020

read it again

READ IT!!!

https://www.sfgate.com/movies/article/The-story-of-SF-s-greatest-acid-popping-athlete-15708098.php

RE: Stro - Greg - 11-09-2020

I'm just reading the comments. The first one points out, rightly so, that Jerry Garcia is only mentioned in the title and nowhere in the article.

RE: Stro - cranefly - 11-09-2020

Nice recap.

As for the title, the columnist is not always in control of that.  Though I suspect he was in this case.

RE: Stro - Drunk Monk - 11-09-2020

Yeah, the Jerry name drop was eye-catching but BS. Sad to see SF Gate stoop so low, but that's no fault of yours and it'll grab eyeballs, which is what you want. Fuck the comments.

Overall, it's a decent piece. Ample swordfights. DOOM recommended. The only issue I have with it is that there's no mention of the real stars - DM & the Yeti. After all, STRO is just the first installment, like the prequel, but one that comes before the masterpiece. Or should I say maestropiece?

Provostpiece?

Srsly tho, it's good pub. Share it.

RE: Stro - Greg - 11-09-2020

Oh, I'm sharing it. There were just so many mischaracterizations in it.

RE: Stro - Drunk Monk - 11-09-2020

There will always be mischaracterizations. That's the way publicity works. Take it. It's positive overall.

RE: Stro - Greg - 11-09-2020

I just don't want people coming up to me and complaining that's not the way it happened. Granted no one will be coming up to me.

RE: Stro - Drunk Monk - 11-09-2020

Bro, if you're gonna put yourself out there, you're gonna get detractors. That's just the way it is.

Sure, the Jerry bit in the title is very misleading, but if anyone calls you on it, just blame the reporter. Not in a vicious way, mind you, just enough to absolve yourself.

At least if anyone does come up to you, it won't be some psycho steroidal martial arts brawler. It'll be one of those effete snowflake knicker-wearers. You have nothing to fear.

RE: Stro - Greg - 11-09-2020

The article has been getting positive response on FB, so I'll turn my worry dial down a little. Although I did just post a screenshot of one of the comments I saw. Whoo Boy is it a humdinger.

RE: Stro - Drunk Monk - 11-09-2020

objectiveguy is a troll. Lesson 1 of the interwebz is 'don't fee the trolls.'

And yes, it is taking all my willpower not to post something about knickers-wearers there.

RE: Stro - Greg - 11-09-2020

That's why I didn't respond on the post. I looked at some of his other posts. They were of a similar vein.

However, you, as card carrying member of knicker-wearer fraternity.....

ex-member.

reformed.

Towards the end of my ILL-ustrious fencing career, I opted for trousers. Knickers were just never that flattering for me.
