Not to jinx you but GM Tu was always one of my more difficult interviews. I did several articles with him and he tended to be obtuse, seldom giving me what I was looking for (something I could turn into a 2K word article). He would go off on these tangents or dump way too much information to compress neatly. And he leaned into ancient terms that were difficult to translate.

Hmmm, what to get a champion power lifter? Biscotti is out. Sandy is a fabulous cook. She used to bring these crazy healthy snacks to the office - cookies and such - all made with TCM health considerations. We all always looked forward to the Tus' visits for those snacks.
Contrarily, we all hated when GM Tu taught classes in our space because his IC students would wreck our men's room. All that lifting made their aim cock eyed.
And yes, that is a pun, one of the few that I'll allow.

There's an idiom within the Wulin - 一日为师，终身为父 (yī rì wéi shī , zhōng shēn wéi fù) - this means 'teacher for one day. father forever.' I've always disdained this one because it's painfully Confucian. Masters pull it out sometimes, a check to see if their students really listened or if they're full of BS. It grants them permission to spank those who have strayed.
And you don't want to know what an IC spanking is like. You really don't.

The Caxton Fung interview went better than expected. I was afraid I would be shooting in a closet after talking to DM. But I guess JO knew what he was talking about. The old facility was empty and I could use whatever rooms I wanted. I was thinking to use the old filming room but it was very dark and I don't think all the lights were working. I defaulted to the room where I shot DM's interview for Stro.
Fung said some good things. I hope they translate. As a bonus, he brought his son to demonstrate a little Yi Jin Jing for the camera. I put him on the spot to describe the section of the form Brandon did and it was a bit of a bridge too far. Once I yelled cut, he knew exactly what he wanted to say.
On to next week, where I spend the week in Los Angeles. I have an interview totally confirmed with Master Tu on Friday. I'm supposed to have an interview with Jade Egg lady on Sunday but communication is spotty. I'm lining up a third interview for Tuesday but that might take me out to Joshua Tree.

Caxton Fung wants to do the interview again. He was really nervous, he said, and blanked on what he wanted to say. He was so disappointed with himself he couldn't sleep. I told him I was up to redo the interview.
He also put in a plug to get the telepath interviewed as well.
Fingers crossed the space at Tiger Claw is still open in two weeks.
