RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Greg - 05-27-2025 The trail cam has been installed. Now, maybe I can found out what is making Lily bark all the time at night. (I know the answer already. Lily is damaged) I've set it up behind the garden shed where all the tall grass is crushed as if something lays down there at night. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Greg - 05-30-2025 Trail Cam stories later. First an observation about how cows cause grass fires. At this time of year, the area is heating up. All the grass around the Lair, and for that matter all the grass in the foothills, is brittle brown. One of the frequent sights I see on my daily walks is ranchers moving their cows from the lower elevations to the higher elevations. There are so many pickups towing cattle cars up Road 600. To make the trailers fast to the trucks, there is ball hitch. As a safety precaution, there are also lengths of chains attaching truck to trailer. Some times these chains are too long or maybe the drivers forget to attach these chains. The trucks drag the chains along the asphalt. Sparks are created. The sparks get into the dry brush which leads to numerous brush fires. The Watch App people use in the foothills to track fires has gone off every day. We've had small fires and large, some as big as 500 acres. All I'm saying is cows cause brush fires. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Drunk Monk - 05-31-2025 Sounds more like drivers with chains than cows. Cows can’t manage chains. They can’t pick up the slack with those hooves of theirs. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Greg - 07-01-2025 Today the nice men from the Electric contractor finished installing our battery back-up system. No more power outages for us. Or at least we can minimize the effects. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Greg - 07-08-2025 I assumed that once we got the battery back-up, the power would never fail in our neighborhood again. I only realized the power was out in the neighborhood when I saw the clock was off for the oven. Everything but the A/C is still on. I'M LIVING IN THE FUTURE! Batteries dropped 4% during the almost three hour outage. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Drunk Monk - 07-08-2025 yay! What fuels your batteries? RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Greg - 07-08-2025 Solar panels RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Drunk Monk - 07-08-2025 So cool. Well, maybe not without AC but the fridge still worked, right? So cooler than before. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Greg - 07-08-2025 Fridge was on. Fans were on. Internet was on. It helped we weren't at the hot part of the day. RE: Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station - Drunk Monk - 07-08-2025 FTW! Now about that AC… |
