Working like a charm.

Lost power in the final hour or so at the shop today. Had enough light through the windows to build the weapons and get the gear on the humans. Wrote down the sales, my Henchman did the calculations on his phone, customer takes photo of the written receipt, gives us the payment info for us to run later. Our customers had a sense of humor about the situation, so no problems. Turns out someone hit a power pole.

Go figure. Now my weekend starts.

I can hear my little creek raging from the Undead Shed. This is only the second time the runoff creek has any water of note in it that I have noticed. The last was during the last storm a week ago. The Queen and I are going to venture down there once it gets light enough. I'm hoping the waterfall might look like a waterfall. And yes, bum knee is going to make this something of an adventure on the steep muddy hillside.

A nice Thunderstorm just rolled over the house, the kind where the lightning and the thunder happen simultaneously. It was also cold enough to throw hail. The hillsides around us are covered in white pellets.

Battening down the hatches as a winter storm blows in. It should be freezing by the time I take my morning walk. We should get 5 or 6 inches of snow according to the forecast. The town where I go grocery shopping, Oakhurst, which did at a higher elevation is supposed to get two feet of snow by Saturday.

Next to my property there were three additional properties for sale when we moved in. One of the the properties was bought about a year after we moved in by an electrical contractor who promptly moved five sea containers and about half a dozen trucks onto the property. According to the owners they were going to use the sea containers to build their house. The sea containers haven't moved since they were put down two years ago. Recently they started grading a pad to put in a shop. I've grumbled because it looks terrible, but it's not my property.

These same owners brought the parcel next to theirs on the other side from where I live. I talked to the owners for their plans. They mentioned building their house on the new property complete with giant pool. This raised red flags because we share the same well and water can be scarce up here.

Right before we left, I noticed two mobile homes on the neighbors new property. Since we returned from the trip, I noticed what looks like six hookups for water and utilities being put in place as if the plan was to make a mini-mobile home park. This is concerning to me on several levels. The first is I don't see any plans for waste disposal. Five new families means five times as much traffic on our little road. Finally, the well that was supposed to support four houses will now support eight houses with a still vacant property yet to be addressed.

I'm thinking it might be time to call the city.

I think this is a very good idea

Woohoo! The men installing the fiber optic cable have finally arrived in my neighborhood. Granted, the installers are at the other end of the Court, but I can see them from my house. It will be nice going from 25mbs/sec speed to 600mbs/sec. We had one of the crew come by the house a couple of weeks ago to say that the installers would be noisy. The Queen asked when that would be. The installer had no idea but did know they were on schedule......

I was in the seasonal creek bed doing some work when a Hawk landed on a branch a few feet from me. He flew away after a few seconds. I'm considering spending the rest of the day in that spot to see if he'll return.

Huzzah! I have defeated the toilet demon at the price of a new gasket as opposed to a whole new fixture.

Do not mock my bucket!

It’s always a win when you defeat the toilet demon, whatever that could mean.

I think there was a scene about that in Dogma

Best Jay & Silent Bob flick of them all.
