So ... for a whole day they were sweatersocks.

Cool...

RE: Thread Hijacking - Greg - 01-22-2019

I blaze new sartorial paths every day.

RE: Thread Hijacking - Drunk Monk - 01-22-2019

better that happened to your socks than your thong.

RE: Thread Hijacking - Greg - 01-22-2019

Why do you think I wear underwear?

RE: Thread Hijacking - Drunk Monk - 01-22-2019

Well I...

...

...I got nothing.

Quote:Oct. 23, 2006:
Greg says:
So, I'm wearing my gloves while operating the sawzall. It's a reciprocating saw with an eight inch blade. Brand new. Fresh out of the package sort of blade. I only realized after I pulled the trigger that I was actually holding the blade rather than the guard. I tell you there is nothing funnnier than watching Greg hop around screaming.
This sticks in my mind; it's a timeless warning to all to always be attentive and cautious.  Think twice -- naye, three times! -- before hitting any button, trigger or switch.

Nonetheless, even in the most mindful, eventually one forgets, has a lapse...

So today I'm making lemon meringue pie.  You know, trying to regain some of the 15 pounds I lost in the jungle.  I've tried making lemon meringue pie maybe six times in my life, and not once have I gotten the meringue to work.

But I've been studying.  I know all the mistakes I've made.  This time I avoid even a speck of yoke, it's all eggwhite.  And I beat it on high until peaks appear, and then I slowly add sugar, continuing to beat.  After about 5 minutes I've got an impressive half bowl of stiff meringue and I shut the mixer off.

Tilting the blade up, I admire the superglob of meringue on it, all ready to put on the lemon pie inches away.  It's time to remove the blade.

So I reach for the release button only instead I turn the mixer on full blast.

Meringue all over my shirt, pants, cupboard doors (an impressive ricochet), floor, and counter.

I go to bed shaking, in a cold sweat, as my meringue gently weeps.

CF makes thread hijacking appear effortless. Bravo, sir!

Lemon merengue is my fav. Haven’t had it since going pre-diabetic. I miss it.

My mom made the best lemon merengue pie but she hasn’t made one in well over a decade. Too much work.

Yeah, a whole lot of work.  Only makes sense if you mass produce three or four and freeze them.  But that doesn't seem possible.

As things stand, after this ordeal, I can't see doing it again.

But dang, lemon meringue pie is delicious!

P.S. DM, is your diet strict, or could you indulge a slice?

RE: Thread Hijacking - Drunk Monk - 01-23-2019

Nah, I shouldn’t. No more than a bite. I’ve been slack lately and need to tighten that up.

The Little Shank That Could
Just sayin...

Something LCF pointed out to me.  Rather hypnotic...

Won't clutter up your job hunt thread, DM, so here it be:

LCF and I remember you buying the Indonesian puppets, and likely the Lord Guan statue (Was that where the heavy Guandao was a tourist attraction?).  But oddly, we're not remembering the genesis of the jian with stealth dao in scabbard gift.  Should we be embarrassed?  Even a seppuku offense?

Maybe it was more Carol, Martha & Chet. It was acquired at the Hongqiao antiques market. We were all fascinated by it (remember Chet bought a lot of pieces) and then some one collected to covertly purchase it for me. It was presented to me at the Beijing hard rock and I was a bit embarrassed because even though i wasn’t getting paid for my work, I did get a free trip.

RE: Thread Hijacking - cranefly - 06-14-2020

Yeah.  That's coming back to me some.  Not certain who guided that whole operation.  But it was definitely a group sentiment.
